Morning Adventure🐾☁️

With temps hovering around 80° and hazy cloud cover this morning, we decided it was the perfect time to explore a new walking trail with the dogs. Our original plan was the south end of the Farmington Canal Trail, but we hit a snag—construction had the road closed off. No worries, though! A quick detour led us to the spacious and scenic Tunxis Mead Thomas J. Quirk Park—a local gem known as Tunxis Quirk Park.

This place has it all: tons of parking, playing fields, a playground, and a lovely network of trails. (Note: All dogs must be leashed here!) We parked by the southern trailhead, drawn to the shaded path that meanders alongside the Farmington
River
. The trail is mostly flat with packed earth, and dotted with side paths.

We strolled about 15 minutes out and back, hopping onto two short side trails to sneak in some river views. Aside from one fellow dog-walker, we had the trail to ourselves—peaceful and perfect.

Fresh Sunflowers

After our walk, we cruised over to the Farm Truck at Hein Farm..

We wanted some fresh local produce. We scored sweet peaches, crisp cucumbers, and leafy lettuce while the dogs chilled by the car. Quick in-and-out, but well worth it!

Make it stand out

Next up: a much-needed refreshment stop at Rebel Dog Coffee & Tavern.

Just down the road., this spot is super dog-friendly, with two outdoor patios—one cover-shaded and one with umbrellas. We sipped iced lattes, nibbled on delicious pastries, and the pups enjoyed a bowl of water with some dog treats.

Verdict: A serene and lovely start to the day. 🌿☕🍑🐶
